Automated    Test    Equipment

Challenges:

  • To come up with testing equipment that can simulate the testing activities performed by a human testing resource while testing the product.
  • To reduce the continuous interference and attention of a human resource while testing the product.
  • To carry out the stress tests on the product that is practically difficult for a human resource to carry out. Also reduce the time taken by a human resource in testing the product.
  • To generate the soft copy report after the test is over that will allow the user to verify whether the test carried out on the product was OK or NOT OK To enter into the automation field by making use of our network printer.

Achievements:

  • Unavailability of human testing resource doesn’t hamper the schedule of testing the product
  • Automatic test report generation in soft copy format reduces the considerable time taken by a human resource for preparing the test report in hard or soft Copy format.
  • Automatic testing equipment was able to find out certain drawbacks of the product that a human testing resource was unable to highlight.

Client:      MIDCO Ltd.

Product Brief:

Midco is constantly making efforts to improve the quality of the product and in the process they are passing their each product through a series of rigorous tests. Midco has developed Automatic Testing Equipment that tests the product to its maximum capabilities in a manner, which is practically very difficult for a human resource to test.

At the heart of the Automated Test Equipment is an ARM cored Philips Microcontroller. To carry out the testing the user has to select tasks from a database present within the testing equipment. The testing equipment functions by initiating selected tasks one by one in which it provides inputs to the product, senses the outputs of the product and generates a report stating whether the tasks completed by the product were OK or NOT OK.

In doing this human intervention is required only at the start of the test to select the tasks and then at the end of the test to verify the test report.
